I ask myself often, What is your focus? Is how you are spending your time reflective of your focus? Do you need to adjust your focus?
The focus in my life is to love the Lord, God, with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my might that I might bring glory to His name. How is one suppose to do that? By studying God's Word, Praying and then Doing what the Word says. Seems simple but it's not. Oh the reading can be simple, praying takes more concentration and time but the hard part is the DOING WHAT IT SAYS.
Doing what the Bible says means I have to do things I don't want to do like forgiving others when they hurt my feelings, giving money to the Church when I want to spend it on something else, not worrying, or being anxious when a crisis arrises, not lying when I don't want to be found out not even little white lie, not taking the Lord's name in vain, not judging others, and the list goes on but you get my point.
If I am going to stay strong to my focus, it means sacrificing my wants for His wants but at the same time knowing when I do I will be blessed and gain so much more than if I had gone ahead with my own desires. God loves us and only wants what is best for us. He knows that when we follow Him and His Word that we will be blessed beyond anything that we can image. And as an extra, when we accept Him as our Savior,
I need to check my focus everyday and see if it needs adjustments. Am I spending time in the Word, am I praying, but a most important question is am I doing what it says. God loves us with all His heart and wants to bless us which is the reason for the rules and guidelines in the first place. He knows what is best for us because He created us. We will never find true joy except by His way.....accepting Jesus as our Savior and spending the rest of our lives living under His guidance.
What is your focus?
Joy for the journey,
